MY FIRST LETTER TO BELOVED BENUE: OPEN-GRAZING PROHIBITION LAW IS NOT AN ACHIEVEMENT!!!

Great Benue People,

With a beckoning sense of responsibility, I write to commend our collective resolve to pass through very harrowing experience occasioned by the maladministration of the present dispensation. The night of pillage & rape of Benue people is far spent already and a new dawn is just away.

May I use this medium to call your esteemed attentions to the deplorable tendency of the Governor Samuel Ortom regime of recklessness to use the recent passage of the OPEN GRAZING PROHIBITION LAW by the Benue House of Assembly for undeserving political gains. This move by a government that lost every shred of credibility because of abysmal failures is tantamount to taking the collective intelligence of Benue people for a ride. It’s condescending to use this intervention as an excuse for monumental deception that ensued in Benue since 2015; a very cheap and shallow attempt turns our attention from the repugnant rot.

For the records, Governor Ortom was elected by Benue people to, primarily, provide for the security of lives and properties of indigenes and residents. While the new law seeks to put an end to the perennial skirmishes between Fulani pastoralists and local crop farmers, many perspectives to the development demands for deeper introspection. Laws are made to be obeyed by humans & Benue should wait to see how much reprieve this noble law would engender.

My beloved people, we must not give in to the subtle but misplaced move to blindfold us with this mediocrity cascading as sentiment. This Ortom’s government is contrary to the collective aspirations of Benue people & we must unite to salvage our fatherland.

Together, we can bring a New Benue without Ortom as our governor…Yes, We Can!!!

Long Live Benue State!

Long Live The Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!

Sincerely,

Adams Abounu.
APA Local Government.
