Coming into the match against Manchester City at Anfield, the stakes were way higher for Jurgen Klopp’s and his men. Guardiola’s sensational Man City side, the only unbeaten team this season in the Premier League, were most people’s favourites to win the game and expected to set their record at Anfield right. They have not won at Merseyside in recent time.
With the absence of the Brazilian Phillipe Coutinho, Liverpool hammered city 4-3 at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp’s men with their counter-attacking style of play were able to Killed Man City’s dream to finish the Premier League season unbeaten.
Even with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne , Fernandinho, and Ilkay Gundogan, Man City could not break Liverpool front and middle down, which caused Man City to make unnecessary mistakes and their dream of breaking Arsenal’s record.
Young Scotsman Andrew Robertson was superb, nobody could break him down, and he kept sterling under control all through the game.
The Man City goalkeeper Ederson was a disappointment, he was at fault for the first goal by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 9′ he was disgraced by Roberto Firmino 59′ for the second and the fourth by Mohamed Salah 68′, was all his mistake when he came off the line and clear straight to Salah’s deft feet, who is in top class form of his life.
Klopp men played well without Philippe Coutinho, the front six and midfield did what they needed to do making the void created by Coutinho departure to Barcelona unnoticeable in the game.
