Accoring to Taiwo Hassan Adebayo, the #AdeosunGate is a complex case and the resignation of Mrs Kemi Adeosun was just one step. Our country’s most important security and intelligence outfit, the State Security Service, SSS, reviewed her credentials, including the forged NYSC exemption certificate, and cleared her. That’s indicative of even a bigger problem – how insecure we are in the hands of grossly incompetent and corrupt agents.

 

Then, the Senate of Bukola Saraki discovered the forgery. But instead of stopping her, Saraki and his gang saw a way of hustling the country by blackmailing Kemi Adeosun. Billions of our money were authorised for transfer to the National Assembly by Adeosun illegally. (Many lawmakers didn’t know why she was releasing unbudgeted funds to them). So, the woman blatantly lied when she told President Muhammadu Buhari she just became aware of the forgery. She’s an incorrigible liar. She’s not even qualified for an exemption certificate, having graduated before 30.

 

I just wish President Buhari was ready to treat the case as though it happened in a serious country. The SSS guys and the gang at the National Assembly should answer questions. The National Assembly, especially! That’s how to make ethical impacts and build strong deterrence.
