Insecurity: Buhari to overhaul security architecture

Following the rise spate of insecurity in some parts of the country, President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the service chiefs to adopt a change in strategy in the fight against insurgents.

This call was made known by the National Security Adviser NSA, Major General Babagana Mungono, rtd, after a National Security Council meeting held at the State House on Tuesday in Abuja.

It would be recalled that over the last two months, Boko Haram terrorists had scaled up attacks in the north eastern parts of the country especially Borno state, with the latest attack being on the convoy of the Borno state Governor Babagana Zullum.

According to him, the Minister of Defense, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (Rtd), was “working on something.”

The NSA further revealed that the council noted that proliferation of drugs was driving insecurity in the country.
