UNILAG shuts staff club to curb the spread of COVID-19

The management of University of Lagos (UNILAG) Akoka has ordered the closure of its Staff club with immediate effect to safeguard against the spread of COVID-19.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe gave the directive.

He said, “The directive is necessitated to curb the spread of COVID-19 as a result of a second wave of the pandemic”.

The Vice Chancellor also said, “It’s just to obey the directive from the government about the closure of club houses”.

UNILAG is also mourning the loss of two of their professors to COVID-19 within three days. Professor Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe, a former VC, and Professor Duro Ajeyalemi, ex-Registrar, Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board.
