His Eminence, Samuel Kanu, the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, was kidnapped on Sunday along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway in the Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.

He and Dennis Mark, the Methodist Bishop of Owerri and the Prelate’s Chaplain, were kidnapped by as-yet-unidentified gunmen.

The clergymen were kidnapped in the afternoon, sources told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), while on their way home from a programme in the council area.

SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, the Abia Police Public Relations Officer, verified the occurrence to our correspondent.

“It’s a pity,” says the narrator. Efforts to save him and the other priests with him are in high gear.

“We’re looking for credible information from the public to help us save them,” he stated.
