The Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA) has expressed its reservation on the calls for an interim government in Nigeria.

The forum believed that such a move is not in the nation’s best interest and could lead to further instability and political uncertainty.

Mohammed Salihu Danlami, Speaker, Arewa Youth Assembly, in a statement on Monday in Kaduna said, “The Arewa Youth Assembly wishes to express its strong opposition to the calls for an interim government in Nigeria. We believe that such a move is not in the best interest of our nation and could lead to further instability and political uncertainty.”

He observed that as a youth organization committed to the unity and progress of Nigeria, they are deeply concerned about the recent calls for an interim government to take over from the current administration.

He lamented, “We believe that such a move would be unconstitutional and could set a dangerous precedence for our democracy.”

According to him, the Arewa Youth Assembly believes that since the 2023 general election was fair and credible due to the introduction of BVAS and winners emerged, nothing should warrant the calls for the formation of an Interim National Government.

The youths believed that supporting the transition program of the present government while taking advantage of the courts to seek redress is the best way to ensure political stability and continuity in Nigeria.

The Speaker urged all stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue and work towards finding solutions to Nigeria’s challenges, adding that it is only by working together that Nigerians could build a strong, united, and prosperous Nigeria for all.

The Arewa Youth Assembly strongly opposed any move to enforce an interim government in Nigeria, calling on all Nigerians to support the current administration and the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and work towards a better future for the nation.
