Families Of Kidnapped Zamfara Children Face Ransom Demand of N30 Million

The families of the abducted school children in Zamfara state are facing a daunting challenge as kidnappers demand a ransom of N30 million for their safe release. 

The children were kidnapped alongside other women in Wanzamai village of the state, adding to the growing number of abductions in Nigeria.

The families of the children are left in a desperate situation as they scramble to raise the funds necessary to secure the release of their loved ones.

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from Nigerians, who are calling for urgent action to address the growing security challenges facing the country.

The kidnappers had demanded N60 million naira for the release of the victims but after negotiations, they reduced to N30 million. 

A source in the community who spoke to Daily Trust said, “Negotiations have started in earnest and kidnappers have reduced the ransom to N30 million. 

“They asked the families of the victims to go and raise the money.”

The Zamfara State Government had condemned the incident and assured the families of the children that it was doing everything possible to ensure their safe return. 

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the state’s police command, CSP Muhammad Shehu, said the state’s commissioner of police, Kolo Yusuf, said: “The command in collaboration with the military and vigilantes are making efforts to rescue the victims hale and hearty and reunite them with their families.”
