Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has equaled Obafemi Martins’ record for the most goals scored by a Nigerian in a UEFA Champions League campaign.

His sensational header in the Partenopei’s 1-1 draw against AC Milan in the second leg of their quarterfinal clash brought his tally this season to five goals, tieing Martins’ record.

Obafemi Martins netted first time for another Italian side, Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League in the 2004/2005 campaign.

Despite Osimhen’s record-equaling goal, Napoli were eliminated from the Champions League by their Italian rivals and seven-time winners, AC Milan.

Milan came into the game with a goal advantage from the first leg at San Siro. Rossoneri doubled their advantage 43 minutes into the second leg in Naples, thanks to Olivier Giroud who earlier missed a penalty.

Napoli struggled against the disciplined-Milan defense with winger Khivcha Kwaratskhelia also missing an important penalty in the second half.

Osimhen’s last-minute header was not enough to book a historic semifinal spot for Napolitano.

The Super Eagles man fired the Naples-based team into the quarter-finals netting twice across both legs.
