IGR: Osun APC accuses Adeleke of deception, lies

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State has accused the Ademola Adeleke administration of running the government with a high-level deceit, lies and diversionary tactics.

This accusation is coming on the heels of recent claims by the current administration of the state’s revenue being diverted into the personal bank accounts of some revenue contractors in the Ministry of Environment.

Webteam@ipledge2nigeria had also earlier reported that Governor Adeleke directed an overhaul of the revenue collection protocol as it affects the Ministry of Environment and other agencies.

The Governor also directed the immediate stoppage of the inherited collection model in the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation.

In response to the Governor’s directive, the Osun Internal Revenue Service, OIRS, through its acting Chairman, Abiodun Olaitan also warned revenue consultants working with the state government to desist from all forms of fraudulent acts.

The Osun APC, through a statement by its acting Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, described the claims by the state government as a watery alibi, adding that those involved in the unwholesome act were part of Adeleke’s cronies.

According to the party, “It is in the public domain that one consultant, Sunday Afolabi, who has been collecting revenue of the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation was appointed by Governor Ademola Adeleke to settle his cronies.

“It is on record that all the consultants appointed by the government of Oyetola were disengaged without recourse to the contents of their MOUs.”

Lawal denied insinuations from government quarters that the revenue collection contractors were appointed by the outgone administration of Adegboyega Oyetola.

“It would be recalled that Adeleke through his spokesman last week stated that it was the consultants hired by the immediate-past APC administration in the state who engaged in the sharp practices of collection of revenue into private accounts, especially in the state ministry of environment and sanitation and that they have been sacked.

“Further investigation on the issue at stake showed that there’s no iota of truth in the statement advanced by the Governor on the unsavoury development.”

He reminded Adeleke that there was no way that driving his administration with lies would confer any advantage on his embattled government.

Lawal recommended the immediate arrest, investigation and prosecution of the consultants who had been draining the IGR if truly they were not part of the government.
