Victor Osimhen, a striker for Napoli, will only agree to a contract extension if his pay is increased to N8 billion annually.
Osimhen joined the Serie A team two years ago and was a key player in their 33rd consecutive championship last season.
The Super Eagles forward led Napoli all the way to the quarterfinals for the first time with 26 league goals and an additional five in the Champions League.
In the offseason, Osimhen has been targeted by top clubs like Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich.
However, Napoli are hoping to hold onto the player and want to extend his contract till the summer of 2027, as his current deal will expire at the end of next season.
Osimhen currently earns €6 million (N6 billion) per year, but the Serie A champions want to increase his pay to €7 million per year.
However, Tutto Napoli reports that Osimhen is demanding €8 million (N8 billion) per year before he agrees on a new contract.
