Nigeria’s labor unions have started nationwide protests.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president, Joe Ajaero, made this revelation in an interview with Channels Television on Wednesday at Unity Fountain in Abuja, where workers had gathered to go on strike.

He asserted that in certain states, there are specific barriers stopping the protest from getting underway.

All states have seen a rise in protests, however there have been significant obstacles in some areas. We are aware of the attempts made by the police in certain regions to halt the process.

To tell the truth, nothing is putting an end to the demonstration. We will decide whether to hold the demonstration today, tomorrow, or the next day based on the reactions we receive from state governments, not by employing force to prevent people from voicing their opinions. Why are we here?

It was earlier reported  that on August 2, laborers declared a statewide strike in protest of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s policies, including the hike in fuel prices.

Workers had assembled for protests at Unity Fountain Abuja, Ogun and Kano states, as of the time this article was filed.
