Due to the suspension of their strike action, the Nigeria Labour Congress is holding an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council.
This was revealed on thursday morning at the ongoing meeting in Abuja by a trustworthy source.
He claims that because of the meeting the Union held with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, its officials are already talking about the prospect of calling off the strike.
“It will be premature to say we have suspended the strike action. We are meeting to consider that option”, he told our correspondent.
According to him, meeting details will be made known in hours.
NLC embarked on a nationwide protest demanding the reversal of fuel subsidy removal and workers’ pay increment.
Consequently, the leadership of organized labour met with Tinubu at the Villa to halt further strike action.
Tinubu, in a statement on Wednesday night by Dele Alake, his spokesperson, pledged to meet workers’ demands.
NLC had announced a nationwide strike action beginning on August 2, 2023.
