1. After meeting with President Bola Tinubu and agreeing to call off their protests, the rapprochement between organized labor and the Federal Government appeared to have collapsed on Thursday night, when the unions vowed to go on a nationwide strike starting August 14 if their leaders were summoned for contempt of court orders.
2. The Federal Government has authorized the Chief Medical Directors and Medical Directors of Federal Tertiary Hospitals to impose a no-work, no-pay policy on striking members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors. It also required hospitals to keep an attendance register for all resident doctors who were willing to work.
3. The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has appointed former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, as the new National Chairman of the party. 7. The new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, on Thursday, promised to work assiduously in ensuring the party’s victory in the November 11, 2023, governorship polls in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa States.

The Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has dispatched a delegation to Niger Republic with a mandate to expeditiously resolve the current political impasse in the country. 10. The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has denied reports making the rounds on social media that it was assembling its forces for military actions in the Republic of Niger. It said the Armed Forces of Nigeria was yet to receive any order from the appropriate authority to commence military action against the Military Junta in Niger.
