Adeniyi Sanni, a key aide to Senator Solomon Adeola of Ogun West, was assassinated in Lagos.

Sanni was slain on his way to his home in the Isheri district of the state on Saturday.

The deceased’s body was discovered with gunshot wounds at a Toyota bus stop in the Oshodi region of Lagos State on Saturday morning, according to a statement published in Abuja by the senator’s spokesperson, Kayode Odunaro.

He explained that Sanni had previously contacted his wife to get the details of his car papers when he was halted by security personnel at a checkpoint in the Berger area of the state.

 

“The wife became troubled when she could no longer reach him on the phone after she sent all the documents to his phone’s WhatsApp.

“His apprehensive wife later called on Sanni’s associates to say she could no longer reach her husband on the phone necessitating the mobilisation of a search party.

“She was later called through the Next of Kin contact on her husband’s driving licence by passersby that the body of Sanni was dumped around Toyota Bus Stop in Oshodi with gunshot wounds.

“Senator Adeola who is involved in the ongoing ministerial nominees screening at the Senate is devastated by the sad news, as Sanni was his close aide for over two decades.

“The Nigeria Police Force is investigating the killing”, the statement stated.
