Manchester City, the defending league champions, started their Premier League campaign on a high note on Friday night by defeating newcomers Burnley 3-0.
At Turf Moor, Erling Haaland took over and continued where he left off the season before by scoring twice.
However, City’s captain Kevin De Bruyne had to leave the game in the 23rd minute due to injury, despite being able to walk down the tunnel alone.
For Pep Guardiola’s team, who pressed forward from the opening minute and took the lead after three, it was business as usual.
After Rodri returned De Bruyne’s cross across the goal for the Norwegian to tap in, Haaland scored the first goal and the first league goal of the season with his first touch.
That goal ended a mini-drought of seven competitive games without a goal.
Not satisfied with one goal to his name, Haaland mercilessly doubled his side’s lead before the interval, firing home from inside the area with just his ninth touch of the ball.
After several encounters in the second-half, Rodri then put the game to bed when he lashed home a loose ball in the box.
The goal ruined Burnley’s night just before their woes were compounded in stoppage time when Anass Zaroruy was sent off for a reckless challenge on deputy captain Kyle Walker.
City eventually saw the match out without a reply from Vincent Kompany’s men to pick up their first three massive points on the road.
