Nnamdi Kanu, the arrested leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, is in critical condition, according to Simon Ekpa, a separatist and Biafra militant.
Despite the Court of Appeal clearing the IPOB leader of terrorism and treasonable felony charges last year, Kanu has been held captive in the DSS facility since his arrest in Kenya in June 2021 and extradition to Nigeria to stand trial for treasonable felony.
Ekpa, a self-described follower of Kanu, claimed that the separatist leader’s health was worsening and emphasized that if nothing was done immediately, he may pass away in DSS custody.
He vowed that those involved would not go unpunished if anything should happen to Kanu.
On his Twitter handle Saturday morning, he wrote, “BRGIE @BiafraRGIE BREAKING, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is very sick and may die in DSS if nothing is done or not released soon. I wish to inform Biafrans that Onyendu is very sick right now. He is in the worst state ever. If MNK dies in DSS let them know that none of those involved in this crime will be free.”
