The immediate replacement of the NDDC’s Victor Akinjo-nominated Ondo State Representative with Hon. Otito Atikase has been approved by President Bola Tinubu.

This event follows small-scale demonstrations that broke out in Ondo State a few days ago in response to Akinjo’s selection. Akinjo is a member of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

It was previously reported that several young people in the state carried posters bearing various sayings to protest the nomination of Akinjo.

This was even as a political group, Progressive Advocates Initiative, also wrote an open letter, asking the President to remove Akinjo from the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

In response to the development on Friday, the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, announced the replacement of the embattled former House of Representatives Member.

The statement reads, “The President has equally approved the immediate replacement of the NDDC’s Cross River State Representative nominee, Mr Asi Oku Okang, with a new Cross River State Representative, Rt. Hon. Orok Otuk Duke.

“Furthermore, the immedate past Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, is reappointed to a second term and will remain in acting capacity, pending the Senate’s confirmation of his reappointment.”
