On Sunday night, Paris St. Germain (PSG) defeated Lyon 4-1 thanks to two goals from Kylian Mbappe.
After Corentin Tolisso fouled Manuel Ugarte, Mbappe scored from the penalty spot in the first four minutes.
After a superb one-two with Ousmane Dembele, Achraf Hakimi pushed the ball past goalkeeper Anthony Lopes to give the visitors a bigger advantage in the 20th minute.
On the 38th minute, Ugarte slipped the ball through for Marco Asensio to score the third goal.
The situation then got worse for Lyon as Mbappe netted his second goal and PSG’s fourth just before halftime with a beautiful finish.
That goal fired Mbappe to the top of the league’s goalscoring charts with his fifth of the season.
Lyon eventually had their moment on 74 minutes to reduce the deficit when a penalty was awarded for Warren Zaire-Emery fouling Nicolas Tagliafico in the area.
Tolisso was on hand to convert from 12 yards and made no mistake to send keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma the wrong way.
But that goal only proved to be a consolation as Laurent Blanc’s side fell to another defeat, extending their winless run to four games in the new Ligue 1 campaign.
PSG, who are unbeaten this season, are now trailing leaders Monaco with two points in the early standings, while Lyon remain bottom on one point from four games.
