G77 Summit: Vice President Shettima Arrives In Cuba

Prior to the G77 China Leaders’ Summit, Nigeria’s vice president Kashim Shettima landed in Havana, Cuba.

Shettima traveled to Havana, the capital of Cuba, on Tuesday night from Abuja.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who recently got back from the G-20 Summit in India, would be represented by him.

Abubakar Kyari, the minister of agriculture and rural development, Uche Nnaji, the minister of innovation, science, and technology, as well as Adamu Lamuwa, the permanent secretary of the ministry of foreign affairs, were among those who traveled with Shettima.

The summit is set to take place from September 15 to 17, 2023.

The arrival of Shettima in Cuba was announced by the Presidency on its X account, It wrote, “Representing President @officialABAT, he will be joining other world leaders, including the United Nations Secretary-General, @antonioguterres at the Summit to deliberate on development issues facing members mostly from the global south.

“The Summit will equally explore proactive ways of addressing challenges facing the development of the member-states leveraging science, technology and innovation to enhance socio-economic growth.”

On the sidelines, Shettima will undertake bilateral discussions with other foreign leaders to promote Nigeria’s trade and investment partnerships, in keeping with the Tinubu administration’s economic development diplomacy.
