Adeoye Aribasoye, Speaker of the Ekiti State Assembly, has been chosen to serve as Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Conference of Speakers.

Aribasoye was also chosen to serve as the Conference’s Southwest Caucus Chairman.

In a similar spirit, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, was elected to lead the Nigerian Conference of Speakers.

They were chosen during the 36 Speakers’ Conference now taking place in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The Conference is an umbrella body for the Speakers of all the 36 state assemblies.

Aribasoye promised to serve the Conference with zeal and patriotism.

The lawmaker, representing Ikole constituency 2 in the Ekiti Assembly, said, “I feel humbled and overwhelmed with joy with these feats. Becoming the Vice Chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Speakers connotes that Ekiti State House is fast garnering recognition in national politics and leadership.

“This further signposted that we are being recognised for our efforts in changing the face of governance in Ekiti through passage of quality and people-centric bills, with high propensity for good governance and that can touch the lives of our people positively.

“Time has come for the lawmakers to show that they are reliable partners to the executive arm. It is time to operate a seamless lawmaking organ that can cohabit effortlessly with the executive arm to make Nigeria great. The task of building a virile nation is determined chiefly by the quality of laws emanating from the legislature.

“I appreciate my colleagues at both national and zonal levels for their respect and display of camaraderie. I won’t betray the trust and confidence reposed in my knack to be a staunch team player. That I promise I shall be.

“I appreciate Governor Biodun Oyebanji and my colleagues in the Ekiti State House of Assembly for their irrepressible and unflagging support. This has been the launchpad for the attainment of this monumental feat. I will never take this for granted.”
