Prepaid meters will once again be distributed by electricity distribution providers this week as part of the Meter Assets Provides initiative.
At a virtual stakeholders’ forum, Ikeja Electric’s Head of Metering Team Morenikeji Amosun revealed this.
Amosun informed the attendees of the meeting that a fresh batch of meters had been imported as part of the initiative and that deployment will soon resume.
He further stated that before attending to new orders, the company would first clear its backlog of orders from roughly two to three months ago.
According to him, electricity customers who had paid the old prices before the newly released prices by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission would be metered without additional payment, while fresh orders would attract new meter prices.
βWe can assure you that MAPs has brought in new meters and customers will start getting their meters in the coming week and beyond.
βBut the focus would first be on those that had ordered about two/three months ago at old prices.
βFor those that had paid old prices, no additional payment would be required from them before they get their meters. But new orders would carry the new prices.β
