Rudi Garcia, the manager of Napoli, has commented about the altercation he had with star forward Victor Osimhen during Sunday’s scoreless draw with Bologna.
After being replaced 14 minutes after missing a penalty in the second half, Osimhen argued with Garcia.
He bemoaned being substituted by another striker, Giovanni Simeone, and insisted that Garcia ought to have started with two forwards in an effort to snare a victory late.
After the game, in response to the event, Garcia said: “Even the greatest football players in history have missed penalties.
“As for when he went off, we talked about that, what I say to my players remains in the locker room.
“We have a lot of quality in the squad and on the bench, so Simeone, Politano and Elmas came on, I still have Jesper available too.
“When we have this much quality, we can’t always have 90 minutes with the same men, especially as we have four games in nine days.”
Osimhen has now gone four consecutive games without scoring, with his last goal coming from the spot against Sassuolo in August.
His Serie A goal tally is three goals in five games thus far and will be aiming to return to scoring form when Napoli play hosts to Udinese in midweek.
