Rashida Umar and Rukaiya Ladan, two women who have been recognized, were detained in Nasarawa State on suspicion of arming bandits.

Following reliable information on the transit of several suspects trafficking in guns from Fadan Karshe in the state’s Sanga LGA towards Akwanga, the women were detained at 177 Gds Bn CP in Akwanga.

Over 1,000 x rounds of 7.62mm x 39mm special ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

The suspects were said to be on their way to deliver the ammunition to a yet- to-be identified arms dealer in Kontagora, Niger State.

The suspects and recovered ammunition were handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation and necessary action.
