World Bank names Finance Minister Wale Edun as Chairman of the African Governors’ Forum

The World Bank has chosen Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy of Nigeria, to lead the African Governors’ Forum

According to the Ministry of Finance, this is the first time in 60 years that Nigeria has served as the forum’s chairman. African finance ministers and central bank governors can communicate with the World Bank about subjects of shared interest through the African Governors’ Forum..

 

The statement read;

 

“The appointment presents a unique opportunity for Nigeria and the implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Nigeria’s Minister of Finance & Coordinating Minister of the Economy Mr. Wale Edun has been appointed to Chair the African Governors’ Forum of the World Bank.

“This marks the first time Nigeria has assumed the role of Chairman in 60 years.”
