The Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has been accused of wanting a third term by Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor in the forthcoming election.

Melaye claimed that Bello was secretly running for reelection to a third term as governor as Ahmed Ododo of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Melaye claimed Bello was using Ododo to complete his term because he is unable to run for office in a Channels Television interview on Monday.

Because the departing governor will still be in charge, he argued that Ododo would only serve as a symbolic leader if elected.

“Yahaya Bello is not off the ballot, so don’t be fooled. Ododo is actually on the ballot, but Yahaya Bello is using a proxy to run for a third term.

I don’t want this debate to be about Yahaya Bello, Melaye stated. Instead, I want to promote my political party and what we have going for Kogi State.
