One officer was killed as a result of a Boko Haram terrorist attack on the Yobe State customs building.
Usman Gombe was recognized as the deceased at the customs office in the state’s Geidam Local Government Area.
According to accounts, the attackers used a Volkswagen Golf and a Land Rover to strike the residential neighborhood near the Maine Soroa road.
According to reports, the terrorists who attacked the home on Saturday at around 10 p.m. fired intermittently into the air.
They launched their attack once they were certain the customs inspectors had gone home. The officers fled for cover as bullets rained down on them in fear. Some of them managed to get out through the gate, while others scaled the fence.
“Unfortunately, one of the officers, Usman Gombe, was shot dead while attempting to climb the fence
“The Boko Haram terrorists are killing customs inspectors for the second time.
A security source said, “Last month, an officer named Babalola and his junior officer were kidnapped and later killed by the insurgents.”
In the meantime, locals told Daily Trust that there had been an uptick in terrorist activity on the town’s fringes.
“A few kilometers outside the town, they collect taxes from farmers and herdsmen, and nobody does anything.
“Instead, the security operatives have relocated over 17 checkpoints into the town where they also taxed traders that brought goods through the same route.
“We are in difficult condition in this town,” a trader said.
