The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declares its confidence in the Apex Court’s ability to uphold the law and administer justice in this case as it begins hearing arguments on the February 25, 2023, Presidential Election Appeal. This confidence is based on the legal provisions, the body of evidence, the circumstances, and the facts that have been brought before the Supreme Court.
In a statement issued by the party’s national publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the main opposition party claimed that the alleged rules and law violations, outright fraud, and perversion of the country’s electoral system during the February 2023 Presidential election have jeopardized democracy.
According to the party, Nigerians and the entire world are looking to the Supreme Court for justice, hoping that the Court will apply the laws, including the express provisions of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Constitution, 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act, 2022, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Guidelines and Regulations, in delivering substantial justice in the matter.
PDP said Nigerians and supporters of democracy across the globe are hoping that the Supreme Court would utilise this case to firmly affirm the cliche that the judiciary is the common man’s final chance.
“Nigerians are therefore optimistic in hoping that the Supreme Court will dispense substantial Justice according to law and fact in the Appeal,” the party said.
