In a recent court case, the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court found Dr. Olufemi Olaleye, the medical director of the Optical Cancer Care Foundation, guilty and sentenced him for defiling his wife’s 16-year-old niece. For the heinous crimes committed, the court sentenced the defendant to a harsh double life sentence.
Dr. Olaleye was charged with two counts of defiling and sexual assault by penetration by the prosecution. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) first reported the case, and Justice Rahman Oshodi oversaw the hearings.
Dr. Olaleye initially entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment; however, Justice Oshodi cited compelling evidence that unmistakably demonstrated his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt in delivering the verdict. The defendant confessed in front of Mr. Olalekan Buruji, his attorney, and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Anthony Police Station, according to the judge. Dr. Olaleye confirmed his guilt by expressing regret for his actions in this statement.
The document was found to bear Mr. Buruji’s NBA seal, supporting the confession’s veracity despite the defendant’s denial of the claim. Dr. Olaleye was sternly referred to by Justice Oshodi as a “dangerous offender” and warned that he should feel extremely ashamed of his behavior.
