On Sunday, October 29, 2023, the 19th Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) were held in style at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos. At this esteemed occasion, the best accomplishments in the African film industry were honored, and a wide range of films and talent were acknowledged for their roles.

Star-studded, the evening honored the best in African cinema with a star-studded affair hosted by the charismatic trio of Nancy Isime, Rahama Sadau, and Richard Ato Turkson.

The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the winners, with Kunle Afolayan’s ‘Anikulapo’ and C.J Obasi’s ‘Mami Wata’ emerging as some of the standout films of the night.

The coveted Best Actor and Actress in a Leading Role went to Tobi Bakre for ‘Brotherhood’ and Nse Ikpe Etim for ‘4-4-44 (Four Four Forty-Four),’ respectively. These awards marked their exceptional performances in the industry.
