On the list of the top ten nations with the greatest proportion of students studying in the US, Nigeria is the only nation in Africa.
Data from the most recent Open Doors Report, which the Institute of International Education (IIE) in Washington, D.C., released on Monday, made this clear.
The study also revealed that, in spite of the foreign exchange issue, the number of Nigerian students enrolled at US universities increased by 22.2% in only a single year.
It added that the enrolment of students from Nigeria increased from 14,438 in 2021/22 to 17,640 in the 2022/23 academic year.
According to the report, the US experienced a 12 per cent increase in the number of international students hosted this year, 1.06 million, compared to the previous academic year.
