Tony Okorocha,Wike’s ally, others inaugurated as Rivers APC exco

Tony Okorocha, a close ally of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, was appointed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Rivers State’s caretaker chairman.

On Friday, Okorocha and six other caretaker committee members were sworn in by the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC).

The APC’s Vice Chairman for South-South, Victor Giadom, National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and members of the NWC attended the inauguration, which was held at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

The  APC NWC officially announced the dissolution of the former state excos on Wednesday to pave the way for the caretaker committee that would oversee the conduct of a congress to elect new state executive members.

The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, who announced the dissolution, also named Tony Okorocha as the Chairman and Eric Nwibani as the Secretary of the seven-man caretaker committee.

Other members include Chibuike Ikenga, Prince Stephen Abolo, Silvester Vidin, Senibo Karibi Dan-Jumbo and Miss Darling Amadi.

While addressing the newly sworn-in officers after the oath-taking ceremony, Ganduje asked them to prepare themselves for the arduous task of reconciling factions and members who had left the party.

He also charged them to the use the six-month duration to create an enabling environment for the congress that will usher in leadership at all levels.
