‘Rush’ by Ayra Starr receives a BRIT Gold Certification

The British Record Industry Trust (BRIT) Awards have certified Ayra Starr’s Grammy-nominated single ‘Rush’ as gold.

A tweet on X (formerly Twitter) from Mavin Records, the label that signed Ayra Starr, revealed this accomplishment.

The BRIT Awards honor the greatest achievements in music and serve as an essential forum for showcasing and elevating up-and-coming musicians.

The hit song sold 400,000 copies in the UK before receiving a gold certification from BRIT.

Rush’ has been warmly received nationally and internationally since its release in September 2022 from her debut studio album ’19 & Dangerous’. It charted worldwide in 2023 after going viral on TikTok.

Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’ recently earned the artiste her first Grammy nomination at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards for Best African Music Performance.

In 2020, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy became the first Nigerian artist to get a certified silver album, ‘African Giant’ in the UK.

CKay set the record as the first Nigerian artist to have a song BRIT-certified platinum song after selling over 600,000 of his hit song ‘Love Nwantiti’ in 2022.

Also in 2023, Wizkid became the first African artiste to be awarded the BRIT Billion Award for achieving over one billion digital streams in the United Kingdom.
