The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has prevailed at the Appeal Court in the person of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
This is in response to the appeal that Patrick Tonye-Cole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Rivers State, brought against Fubara and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which was dismissed by the Appeal Court sitting in Lagos State on Tuesday.
Tuesday in court, the APC candidate asked the judge to declare him the winner of the March Rivers governorship race by INEC.
Cole’s case contesting Fubara’s election as the Governor was initially dismissed by the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in October.
However, not satisfied with the Tribunal’s judgment, the APC candidate approached the appellate court.
However, the court on Tuesday upheld the Tribunal ruling which affirmed Fubara’s victory in October.
