The African Action Congress presidential candidate and pro-democracy activist Omoyele Sowore has criticized the Bauchi State administration for detaining Rhoda Jatau, a woman, on charges of blasphemy.
Sowore sounded off, saying there was no need for the woman to be held for so long.
Jatau was reportedly detained almost eighteen months prior for allegedly disseminating blasphemous content.
Sowore stated that Nigeria has to quit violating human rights in a post on his verified X.
He wrote, “Roda Jatau needs to be set free by the Bauchi administration right now. She has no justification for being persecuted; it’s already awful that Deborah Samuel’s killers went unpunished.
“Nigeria must stop these violations with urgency. #FreeRhodaJatau NOW! Free all Nigerians being prosecuted for and unjustly jailed for blasphemy,” he said.
