In a remarkable display of commitment to public service, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State in Nigeria made a significant gesture by presenting 40 SUV cars and four Hilux vans to the state’s lawmakers and judges. To further bolster emergency response and healthcare services, he also allocated 25 ambulances to the local governments.
The presentation ceremony, held at the Muhammadu Buhari Square in Lokoja, was graced with vibrant celebrations as the governor emphasized that the distribution of vehicles signified a drive to motivate performance and recognize diligent efforts. Bello urged the recipients to view the donations as an incentive to continue serving the state with dedication, fostering its progress and advancement.
Notably, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Umar Yusuf, received a Jeep and two accompanying cars. His deputy, majority members, and 22 other lawmakers were also recipients of vehicles, each tailored to their various roles and responsibilities. Furthermore, a portion of the vehicles was allocated to the Judiciary for equitable distribution among the state’s deserving judges.
In addition to the automotive donations, the governor’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services was evident as he allocated ambulances to the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) for their Primary Health Care Centres. Moreover, three ambulances were designated for the Referral Hospitals in the three senatorial districts, with an extra allocation to the Kogi Specialist Hospital.
The Speaker, Umar Yusuf, lauded the governor for his benevolence and support, expressing a renewed commitment to serving the constituents and fostering the overall development of Kogi State. The Health Commissioner, Dr. Usman Zakari, extended his gratitude for the ambulances, recognizing their pivotal role in facilitating timely and efficient patient transfer for essential medical care and treatment.
Acknowledging the governor’s remarkable contributions to the state’s healthcare sector, Mr. Zakari praised the unprecedented improvement in healthcare facilities across the state. Meanwhile, the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Josiah Mejabi, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the governor’s consideration of the welfare of judges, underscoring its impact on advancing judicial service delivery to the people of Kogi State.
