NSCDC deploys 25,000 personnel nationwide

The protection of lives and critical infrastructure across Nigeria during the Yuletide season is being ensured with the deployment of 25,000 personnel by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. The NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, made this known during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

 

 

The deployed officers and men of the corps, drawn from several tactical units, are on active surveillance to ensure that citizens can celebrate the festive season without fear. Dr. Ahmed Audi assured Nigerians that the corps would provide massive safety in collaboration with sister agencies, especially at entertainment centres.

 

 

The NSCDC has also deployed 2,500 personnel in Lagos State to ensure maximum security during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. These personnel are drawn from Operations, Intelligence and Investigation Departments, as well as Anti-vandal, Armed Squad, and Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear and Explosives Units.

 

 

In addition, 2,345 personnel have been deployed to protect critical national assets and infrastructure across Rivers State. The State NSCDC Commandant, Basil Igwebueze, disclosed that the deployment was in response to the security challenges within the festive period.

 

 

The Kaduna State Police Command has beefed up security to safeguard lives and property during and after the Christmas celebration. The command has deployed regular and Mobile Policemen across the state to ensure water-tight security and assured the people of its readiness to respond swiftly to distressed calls.

 

 

In Sokoto State, the Nigeria Police Force has deployed human and material resources across the state, characterized by visibility policing at various places of worship, event centers, and raids on identified black spots, uncompleted buildings, and shanties. The deployment is part of preparations towards a safe yuletide celebration.
