Jose Peseiro’s Super Eagles would be pleased with a not-too-decent performance but a job well done as they secure a 0-1 win in the last group game of the AFCON held in Ivory Coast.

With Nigeria beating Ivory Coast in the second game, many people expected the Super Eagles to win and even win convincingly against Guinea-Bissau.

But it wasn’t to be as Nigeria struggled to overcome Guinea-Bissau in the contest. Both sides had several chances to make it count in the early exchanges.

But the goal wasn’t forthcoming as Nigeria had to wait until the 36th minute to find the breakthrough goal they desired in the contest.

Following the pressure coming from the Nigerian side, Guinea-Bissau centre-back Opa Sangante put the ball into his net for an own goal.

It finished 0-1 in favour of the Super Eagles at the break.

After the restart, both sides attempted to make most of the scoring chances but it ended up without a goal as Nigeria held firm to their 0-1 lead to seal a place in the knockout stage.
