Nigeria’s Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze has said his target is to head back to AC Milan with the AFCON trophy.
The Eagles will be back in action in Côte d’Ivoire on Saturday when they take on rivals Cameroon in the round of 16.
Both the Eagles and Cameroon finished as runners-up in Group B and C respectively.
Chukwueze has featured in all of the Eagles’ three group games which saw them record two wins and one draw.
Up next for Chukwueze and his Eagles teammates is the clash with Cameroon on Saturday.
Looking forward to the knockout tie, Chukwueze stated he wants to go back to Milan with the trophy.
“I can’t leave Milan to come here and not win a trophy, I really need it,” Chukwueze replied (via Calciomercato).
“I want to make my country proud and I don’t want to waste my club’s time for nothing. I have to fight for my position and win.”
The last time the Eagles faced Cameroon at the AFCON was also in the round of 16 at the 2019 tournament in Egypt.
Odion Ighalo scored two goals and Alex Iwobi was also on target as the Eagles won 3-2 win.
For Cameroon, they will be looking for a first AFCON win against the Eagles since the 2000 edition co-hosted by Ghana and Nigeria.
In the final played inside the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, the Indomitable Lions won 3-2 on penalties after 120 minutes of football ended 2-2.
