Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has declared that kidnappers will no longer be given bail.

 

Wike stated that he would guarantee those kidnappers apprehended are punished in line with the law when he addressed a security town hall meeting at the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) on Friday.

 

“Gone are the days when kidnappers would be granted bail. I will not allow it again. We will ensure that the kidnapper is punished. How will a kidnapper be granted bail?”

 

Recently, kidnappers have terrorised inhabitants of the federal capital, abducting individuals from their houses.

 

Meanwhile, the police said that 14 abducted people had been freed by officers from the anti-kidnapping unit and the Rubochi Division Police Headquarters.

 

SP Josephine Adeh, the command’s spokeswoman, stated that the operation took place on Wednesday.

 

She stated that the successful operation followed the ongoing fight against abduction in the nation’s main city.
