The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Dr Alhassan Zakariya Ishaq of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) as the victor of Saturday’s rerun election in Kano’s Kura/Garun Mallam State Constituency.
According to correspondents, the returning officer for the election, Prof. Shehu Musa Galadanchi, declared that Ishaq of the NNPP received 37,262 votes, defeating Musa Hayatu Daurawar of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who received 30,803 votes.
Webteam@ipledge2nigeria had reported that the appeals court ordered INEC to hold a rerun election at 20 polling stations in Kano’s Kura/Garun Malam state constituency.
In the same vein, INEC pronounced Bello Muhammad Butu-Butu of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, or NNPP, the victor of Saturday’s rerun election in the Rimin Gado/Tofa state constituency.
Prof. Ibrahim Tajo Suraj, the returning officer of the election, also declared that Bello Muhammad Butu-Butu of the NNPP received 31,135 votes, defeating his opponent from the All Progressives Congress, APC, who received 25,577 votes.
The appeal court had also ordered INEC to hold a rerun election at 33 polling stations in the Rimin Gado/Tofa state constituency.
