AFCON 2023 might be over, but the attention and accolades Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is still receiving are far from being over.
The latest recognition is from his state of Origin, Rivers State. The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara yesterday afternoon, received the Rivers-born goalkeeper after his wonderful debut with the Super Eagles.
The Governor conferred onNigeria’s goal-stopper the second highest honor in the state, the Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State(DSSRS) award.
In addition, Nwabali also got a monetary gift of 20 million Naira from Governor Fubaraas a token of appreciation for putting Rivers State on the map.
To also encourage the Super Eagles, the Governor went ahead to give the entire team led by Jose Peseiro the sum of 30 million naira.
Stanley Nwabali is a Nigerian goalkeeper who hails from the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni local government area of Rivers State. He gained worldwide attention after a stellar performance at his AFCON 2023 debut with the Nigeria men’s senior team.
