Zamfara: No Peace Deal With Bandits groups’

The strong rivalry among some of the bandit organisations operating in Zamfara State has escalated, with four of the most feared gangs making dire warnings of lethal reprisals against one another.

According to intelligence sources shared on X by Zagazola, some of the groups reject the notion of reaching a peace agreement with the others, stating that they will maintain a combative position against them.

Representatives from three of the four parties – Dan Karami Gwaska and Alhaji Shingi – allegedly met last Saturday, April 14, 2024, at Usu village in Birnin-Magaji Local Government Area to propose a peace agreement. The Bello Turji faction did not attend the meeting.

Ado Aleru represented the Alhaji Shingi group; Bello Tagoje represented the Kachalla Halilu faction, and Ardo Na-shawari, Alhaji Ali, Alhaji Shamago and the youngest son of Dan Karami Gwaska represented the Gwaska group.

The Shingi gang, led by Ado Aleru, issued a stern warning to the Gwaska group not to step foot in any village other than Tsanu and Rukudawa in Zurmi Local Government Area. They also threatened that if Gwaska ignored their warning, they would murder him and several of his troops.

To strengthen their position, the three bandit leaders, Ado Allero, Dan Yusufa, and Mali, had already stationed their troops in the north of Tsafe, ready for any fight.

As another condition for peace, the Shingi gang asked that Dan Karami Gwaska restore the animals he had stolen from one Hassan in Bafashi, Safana LGA, Katsina State.

They also asked that Dan Karami Gwaska restore the firearms belonging to Sani Dangote, whom he had slain the previous week, as well as purchase new motorbikes to compensate for the ones he had burned belonging to Dangote’s men.

The Dan Karami Gwaska group agreed to all of the terms. However, Bello Turji, who did not attend the meeting or send emissaries, disregarded the notion of a peace treaty between him and Gwaska, stating that he would continue to seek Gwaska and kill him.
