Yesterday, May 10, 2024, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle landed in Nigeria, embarking on their 72-hour tour aimed at promoting the Invictus Games.

The couple arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport aboard a British Airways flight.

The flight which arrived around 5am, was delayed because of a sick pilot, according to the Daily Mail.

The visit, primarily focused on promoting the Invictus Games, stems from Harry’s encounter with the Nigerian team and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa during last year’s competition in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Harry and Meghan are visiting Nigeria at the invitation of General Musa.

The couple’s itinerary includes a visit to a school and a meeting with injured service members at a military hospital.

They are also scheduled to attend a training session for the charity organization Nigeria: Unconquered, collaborate with the Invictus Games, and participate in a reception honoring military families.

Saturday’s agenda involves attending a training session for Nigeria: Unconquered and a reception hosted by the Chief of Defence Staff, alongside Meghan co-hosting a Women in Leadership event with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization.

On Sunday, the royal duo is set to attend a basketball clinic with Giants of Africa, partake in a cultural reception, and support a polo fundraiser for Nigeria: Unconquered

Recall that In 2022, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that she had discovered via a genealogy test that she was 43% Nigerian.

Talking about it in her Archetypes podcast, she told comedian Ziwe, “I’m going to start to dig deeper into all this because anybody that I’ve told, especially Nigerian women, are like ‘What!’.”
