The hopes of Chelsea fans towards a revival of their club seem to be back on track as transfer guru, Fabriio Romano on Tuesday revealed that the club’s hierarchy has contacted the afent of Nigeria international Victor Osimhen for a possible summer move.
The Super Eagles striker signed a new deal with his Serie A club, Napoli last season until 2026 but the club president revealed that the contract had a clause in place which can be activated by interested clubs this summer.
Now, Chelsea seems to be at the forefront of clubs wishing to poach the talented striker and have contacted his agents, according to Cufgtoffside.
The Nigerian was discussed as a possible Chelsea target a few weeks ago , but such reports went down after a few disappointing results. The Blues have however recorded some wins and are now seventh on the Premier League table.
Should the deal with the camp of the Nigerian be rubberstamped, it could mean that clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, PSG and Tottenham Hotspur look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements.
Osimhen scored 26 league goals last season to emerge as the top scorer in the Serie A but has only chalked up 15 this season which is still a decent return for the African Footballer of the Year who has had to deal with injuries and was at the Africa Cup of Nations duty with Nigeria between January and February this year.
