Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy is venturing into filmmaking as the executive producer of the upcoming thriller “3 Cold Dishes.” The project was announced by Black Mic Mac, a content company focusing on film and TV productions by African and Middle Eastern talents.

Directed by Asurf Oluseyi and penned by Tomi Adesina, “3 Cold Dishes” unfolds across Nigeria, the Republic of Benin, and Côte d’Ivoire. The narrative centers on three teenagers, survivors of sex trafficking, who reunite after thirteen years to seek revenge.

The multilingual film, featuring dialogue in French, Yoruba, and English, is a co-production involving Black Mic Mac, Ifind, Alma Prods., Asurf Films, and Martian Network. Burna Boy’s involvement comes through Spaceship Films, which he co-founded with his mother, Bose Ogulu.

In a statement to Variety, Oluseyi highlighted the film as a tribute to the characters’ resilience, calling it a pioneering pan-African work. He remarked on the intense effort behind the project, saying it “took blood and sweat to get it to this stage.”

The film boasts a cast of prominent Nollywood actors, including Osas Ighodaro, Wale Ojo, Femi Jacobs, Ruby Akubueze, Brutus Richards, and Greg Ojefua, as well as actors from Ivory Coast and Senegal. The soundtrack is expected to feature renowned artists such as Angelique Kidjo, Burna Boy, Asa, Tems, Brymo, Johnny Drille, and Ayra Starr.
