Chelsea announced the contract extension on Tuesday of defender Richard Olise, the younger brother of Super Eagles-eligible forward, Michael Olise.

 

The initial contract of the defender was set to expire this summer but even after the latest deal expires, the club could still extend his stint at the club by one more season according to the terms of his deal.

 

The youngster got promoted to the U21s in the just-ended season and made 14 league appearances for the U-21 side.

 

Olise joined Chelsea as an Under-9 and is steadily growing through the ranks.

 

Interestingly, the Nigerian-born teenager came on as a second-half substitute for Josh Acheampong as they lost to Tottenham in the semifinal of the Premier League 2 playoff on Sunday.
