For someone with a magnificent body and physique, one would think Tems has always loved and showed off her body. Oh well, that was not always the case. In fact, she used to hate her body!
The Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer revealed this in a chat with YouTuber and content creator Korty EO.
Tems explained that her hatred of her body sprang from her want to produce and release music, not from any desire to be noticed for the way her body looked.
“I used to not always like my body. I just didn’t understand a lot of things. I was going to a lot of studios alone, meeting people I didn’t know and had never met. I’ll message people to ask them to teach me how to produce music for people”.
“So, because of my objective which is just wanting to make music, if my being attractive is disturbing you and stopping me from achieving my goal, I am going to help you. So, when I go to the studio, I wear like baggy clothes and I’m in my alpha mode because I want you to not be seduced by me”, she continued.
Tems also added that even though it was a person’s choice to want to be seduced or not, she’d still not make room for any funny thoughts.
The ‘Me & U’ crooner also admitted that her strategy works most of the time and the people she works with at any given moment can tell that she is just there to work.
Since rising to fame after being featured on Wizkid’s platinum single ‘Essence’ in 2020, Tems has become a powerhouse in the music industry having worked with the likes of Drake, Future, and many others.
She is the recipient of a Grammy Award, a Billboard Women in Music Award, and three BET Awards, amongst others.
Her debut album ‘Born In The Wild’ which is scheduled for release on June 7, 2024, is already the subject of conversations around the world.
