The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), says the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch and Hadarin Daji have eliminated terrorists’ enclaves killing scores in Kaduna and Katsina State

The initial strikes, conducted in Kaduna, focused on the notorious Buharinyadi stronghold in Bula Forest. Prompted by thorough Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations, air assets attacked clusters of thatched huts housing armed terrorists. Significant damage was inflicted, neutralizing several terrorists and destroying their equipment. Follow-up strikes were carried out upon receiving intelligence that surviving terrorists had relocated nearby, resulting in additional neutralizations and destruction.

In a parallel operation on June 2, airstrikes targeted terrorist kingpin Alhaji Iliya and his cohorts at Zango Hill in Katsina. Surveillance revealed clusters of huts and significant activity. The strikes decimated the terrorist group, eliminating numerous members and setting their hideouts ablaze.

Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), confirmed the success of these operations. He emphasized the ongoing commitment to maintaining control of the battlespace through extensive situational awareness, patrols, and targeted strikes. Collaboration with ground forces remains crucial, along with a societal approach to combatting the threat posed by criminal elements.
