Doyin Okupe, who served as the Director-General of the Peter Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organization in 2023, has expressed that President Bola Tinubu stood out as the best candidate among those who ran in the 2023 election.

 

In a Friday night interview with Channels TV, Okupe stated, “Reflecting on it, Bola Tinubu was the best choice among all the presidential candidates in 2023.”

 

Okupe praised Tinubu for his accomplishments as the former governor of Lagos and contrasted him with his own 2023 candidate, Peter Obi, and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, deeming them less knowledgeable and capable compared to Tinubu.

 

“From benefit of hindsight, I’ve seen Peter Obi, I’ve worked with Atiku Abubakar. I knew Bola Tinubu long time ago. But in terms of capacity, capability, knowledge, and commitment, you know, people keep underestimating what he did in Lagos. He did a wonderful job,” Okupe said.

 

He added that one year is too quick to assess the performance of Tinubu in office, urging Nigerians to give the president a chance to make the country better.

 

Recall that Okupe resigned from his role with Obi’s team shortly after the 2023 election.
